Liverpool fans are not particularly fond of Raheem Sterling.

Actually, that might be something of an understatement. Despite playing a key role in their side's brilliant 2013/14 campaign, where Liverpool came painfully close to winning their first Premier League title, Sterling is still public enemy No.1 with many Anfield regulars.

It may have been two years since he left for Manchester City, but plenty of Liverpool fans are unlikely to ever forgive Sterling for the way he forced his way out of the club in 2015.

That is why we would hazard a guess that the 'snake' emoji has been used in more tweets about Sterling than any other human on Earth (except for perhaps Cesc Fabreagas - God bless those angry Arsenal fans).

It also why Raheem Sterling news that seemingly has nothing to do with Liverpool can still provoke quite a strong reaction from Liverpool fans.

Take the extraordinary story that Manchester City have offered Sterling to Arsenal in a part-exchange deal for Alexis Sanchez.

It's an astonishing bit of transfer news, not least because it suggests that Pep Guardiola and City are happy to use Sterling - who cost £49million, don't forget - as nothing more than a makeweight in a bigger deal.

So, how do you think Liverpool fans are responding to this story? We'll give you three guesses…

It's been two years, guys.

Might be time to get over it…
