It's been progressing at a painfully slow pace for Manchester United fans' liking, but Alvaro Morata's move to Old Trafford should be getting there soon.

The Spain international forward has been a name high on Jose Mourinho's wishlist for some time, and the 24-year-old is hotly tipped to make the move to the Premier League in the coming weeks as a replacement for the now-departed Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

But once he arrives, what will United be getting? Well judging by these figures, someone who'll remind them of a certain club legend.

Because while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's penalty box prowess was celebrated by United fans during his time at the club, it was the fact that he was so effective when coming off the bench which really set him apart, and the same is true of Morata.

The Norwegian scored 126 goals in 11 years at Old Trafford, including - most famously - the winner in the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich on "that night in Barcelona", with 17 of his 84 Premier League goals coming off the bench.

But Morata can beat that.

His record in all competitions last season reads 20 goals in 43 games, a fine tally, but that is made all the more impressive by the fact that he only played 1,873 minutes across those games.

That meant that he scored on average a goal every 94 minutes, so nearly a goal a game.

That record gets even more impressive when you just look at the times Morata has scored when coming off the bench.

Since the 2012/13 campaign he's found the net 26 times in 105 substitute appearances, compared to 32 in 80 starts.

So in terms of minutes that means he's netted a goal every 195 minutes when he's started games, and got a goal every 71 minutes when he's come off the bench.

2016/17

Even more impressively, he managed a goal every 54 minutes when playing as a substitute in 2016/17, when he scored seven goals across 397 minutes of substitute action.

So... will Jose want him to be United's new super-sub?
