It's done. He's gone. It is all over.

As hard as it is to believe, Wayne Rooney is no longer a Manchester United player.

After 13 years at Old Trafford, United's all-time record goalscorer has signed a two-year deal at Everton, confirming his return to his boyhood club. The 31 year-old said: "It’s a great feeling to be back. I’m excited, I cannot wait to meet the lads, get on the training pitch and then get on the pitch to play. I’m ecstatic – I just cannot wait to get back playing."

However, while Rooney himself might be delighted to be back on Merseyside, United fans have realised that a genuine legend has just left their club.

During his United career, Rooney won a Champions League, Europa League, five Premier League titles, one FA Cup, three League Cups and one FIFA Club World Cup. As such, United wanted to mark his departure.

Hence this rather lovely message:
