Where did that come from?!

It had been widely thought that Romelu Lukaku was all set for a move back to Chelsea this summer… until the news news broke that Manchester United had agreed a fee for the big Belgian.

In football's worst kept secret, Lukaku is now set to line up alongside his good friend Paul Pogba at Old Trafford in the new campaign. But what will happen if he does end up there?

Deprived of his top centre-forward target for the summer, and suddenly facing up to the prospect of entering the new campaign as defending champions without a fearsome hitman, Antonio Conte might find that his next new text messages to Diego Costa are a little lighter in nature.

"Oh, Lukaku? Yeah, didn't want him mate. Useless when he was with us. Couldn't hit a barn door. Didn't want him back at all."

Before April's turgid goalless draw at the London Stadium, Lukaku had scored in nine straight appearances for Everton against West Ham. NINE.

Playing at Old Trafford against the Hammers on his United debut, you'd back him to find the net.

Remember that they didn't get on when they were at Chelsea? Remember all the surly faces Lukaku used to pull on the touchline when he was overlooked for an underperforming Fernando Torres?

All it'll take is for Mourinho to substitute Lukaku a little early in a Champions League group game and it'll all come around again.

Wayne Rooney will be put under even more pressure at Everton

"Our old No. 10 used to move a little bit faster than that Wayne..."
