Arsenal are expected to sell players before they strengthen their squad in the remaining month of the summer transfer window.

The club has signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac but will look to sell several players before they consider making any new signings.

Arsenal have 33 players in their senior squad and striker Lucas Perez is one of a number of players of interest to other clubs.

Following their Community Shield win against Chelsea on Sunday, manager Arsene Wenger said: "The number (in the squad) is too high. We will let some players go.

"Too much competition for places is detrimental, but not enough competition for places is detrimental as well."

It is understood Arsenal are no longer in active talks over Thomas Lemar at Monaco, but have not entirely ended their interest in signing him this month after a bid was rejected in July.

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has said Lemar "is staying with us" but the French club's stance has softened in recent weeks and Barcelona are now interested in the attacker.

Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim said: "It is important to keep all of our players who were important last season at the club. But down the years it has been shown that is it not always possible to keep hold of your players and you know how our project works."

Alexis Sanchez watched from the stands as Arsenal won their first trophy of the new season at the weekend, and the Gunners remain convinced he will not leave the club this month, instead playing out the remainder of his contract until next summer.

Sanchez replied "I don't know" during the Confederations Cup in Russia when asked by Sky Sports News whether he would remain at Arsenal beyond this summer's window.

The transfer window in England closes at 11pm on Thursday, August 31.
