UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against FC Zorya Luhansk following their match against Manchester United on Thursday in Odessa.

United advanced to the knockout stages of the Europa League with a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

But the game was marred by a number of incidents involving supporters, including in the first half when a firework was thrown onto the pitch and went off yards from United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

After the match, United boss Jose Mourinho said he did not want to see Zorya fined for the actions of some of supporters.

"'The support was beautiful and they don't need that to make it more beautiful," Mourinho said after the match.

"The stadium was beautiful, the support was good. Manchester United fans in the top were good too, we just don't need these things.

"Maybe UEFA is not happy and maybe UEFA now takes some money from Zorya, which I think Zorya doesn't deserve."

The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on 23 February 2017.
