Jose Mourinho admitted Manchester United were not good enough after watching 10-man Bournemouth hold out for a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

The game was marred by two controversial incidents late in the first half, after Joshua King's penalty cancelled out Marcos Rojo's 23rd-minute opener.

Firstly, Tyrone Mings stamped on the head of Ibrahimovic, and the Swede responded shortly afterwards by elbowing the defender as they competed at a corner.

Neither player was punished by referee Kevin Friend and instead Bournemouth's Andrew Surman was shown a second yellow card for pushing Ibrahimovic in the melee that followed.

Ibrahimovic went on to miss a second-half penalty to cap a frustrating afternoon for United as they missed an opportunity to leapfrog Liverpool and Arsenal in the table ahead of their clash at Anfield later in the day.

Jose Mourinho spoke to Tyrone Mings at half-time of Man United's game with Bournemouth following the player's stamp on Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Even though Sky Sports' cameras captured Mourinho in an animated exchange with Mings as the sides emerged for the second half, the United boss refused to be drawn on the incidents after the match and was instead left to rue his team's wasteful finishing.

Mourinho told Sky Sports: "I don't want to speak about it. It is not important for me.

"What is important to me is the result of the game. What is important for me is once more we deserved to win by far and we didn't.

"The two important decisions Kevin [Friend] had it right. The two penalties are two penalties - no doubts about it. For me the referee was good.

"If we didn't win it was because [Artur] Boruc made an amazing performance. It was because we were not lucky. It was because we were not good enough to materialise in goals the dominance that we had.

"We lost two points and we lost a good opportunity to close the gap and to jump a little bit."
