Cristiano Ronaldo told a Madrid court last week he wants to return to England, Sky sources understand.
The Real Madrid forward appeared in court last Monday to deny he had evaded about £13m in tax by using three off-shore companies based in the British Virgin Islands.
At one stage during his 90-minute appearance, Ronaldo said: "I never had these problems in England. That's why I want to go back there."
Former Man Utd striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be in line for a sensational return to AC Milan after sporting director Massimo Mirabelli confirmed the possibility.
"Ibrahimovic? In life, never say never. Maybe an old acquaintance of ours could come back," he told Sport Mediaset. "I don't want to hint at Ibra, that's not the case. We have our feet on the ground. We'll evaluate the things that we have to do after August 15."
Meanwhile, Leander Dendoncker's agent has claimed he is ready for a new challenge as he seeks a move away from Anderlecht with Manchester United said to be interested.
His agent Christophe Henrotay recently told Foot Mercato: "Anderlecht want to keep him but the kid wants a new challenge. We'll see if we can find an agreement with the club, but that seems difficult."
The Daily Express also reports that manager Jose Mourinho has asked Manchester United chiefs to secure a move for Monaco star Fabinho.
United were linked with the Brazilian at the start of the window before their interest cooled, but it is now reported that they could clinch a deal with a £40.6m offer.
