Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial are not in the France squad for their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Bulgaria and Belarus.

Pogba sustained a hamstring injury in the win over Everton on September 17, but Jose Mourinho has confirmed reports it would keep him out for three months are "nonsense".

Despite no confirmed comeback date for Pogba's return, the midfielder will not be involved on international duty for France's upcoming games on October 7 and 10.

Martial once again misses out, having been overlooked by manager Didier Deschamps for France's last qualifiers in August, despite scoring three goals in his last three matches for Manchester United.

Marseille forward Dimitri Payet, formerly of West Ham, is recalled to the squad along with Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko and Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

Deschamps explained his reasons for including Payet and Sissoko.

"Moussa is playing matches in different positions, he's an additional option," Deschamps said.

"For the last squad (Payet) was injured. The competition is strong in attack, but if he regains the level he should be at, it makes sense that he returns with us."

Paris St Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is unsurprisingly included after starring in the 3-0 Champions League win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

"He can play all positions in attack," Deschamps said. "He does everything very quickly. Without throwing flowers at him, what he is capable of doing is incredible. It does not justify the price of a transfer, but he is capable of doing things that are out of the ordinary."
