Chelsea have been handed an injury scare after Alvaro Morata limped off in Saturday's 1-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester City

Morata was replaced by Brazilian playmaker Willian 10 minutes before half-time and was clutching his left hamstring as he left the Stamford Bridge pitch.

The Spain international has been in prolific form since joining Chelsea from Real Madrid over the summer, netting 10 goals in 10 matches for club and country before Saturday's clash with City.

Speaking after the game, Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte said the extent of Morata's injury is unclear at this stage, but cast doubt on the striker's availability for Spain's forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Israel.

"It's a muscular problem," Conte said.

"I don't think it's a serious problem because he stopped before it will become a serious injury. He said to me 'coach I prefer to stop myself otherwise I risk a bad injury'.

"I don't know. The doctor now in the next days has to check the situation, but I don't think he's available for the national team.

"It's normal when you play three massive games in only seven days, you must consider this aspect. We needed to take this risk because Morata for us is an important player."
