Ederson receives treatment on the pitch after colliding with Sadio Mane

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has expressed his regret after he collided with Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the 37th-minute of Manchester City's 5-0 win and Mane was shown a straight red card by referee Jon Moss, having caught Ederson in the face with his boot.

Ederson had to be stretchered off the field after receiving treatment and was replaced by Claudio Bravo but he was able to join his team-mates on the City bench before full-time.

And City boss Pep Guardiola reported after the match: "I spoke to the doctor and he said it's not a broken bone, so that is of course so important."

On Saturday night, Mane posted a photo on Instagram of the injured Ederson.

And the Liverpool man wrote: "I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery.

"I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it.

"I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon because he is highest quality player."

And Ederson himself tweeted: "Hi, everyone - I am well. What a fright!

"It was an important win for us. We are strong. Thanks for all your messages of support."
