Jordan Henderson admits Liverpool have to learn lessons from their defeat to Sevilla if they are to progress in the Champions League this season.
The Reds were held to a frustrating 2-2 at Anfield on Wednesday night after Joaquin Correa equalised for the Spanish side late on following a lapse in concentration from the home defence.
Dejan Lovren was also at fault for Sevilla's opening goal of the game and Henderson admits Liverpool need to cut out the defensive mistakes which have dogged the club's start to the season.
"We're disappointed with the result in the end. We think we've done enough to win the game," said Henderson.
"The performance level was good, we've reacted well from the weekend (a 5-0 defeat at Manchester City) and then, of course, we've gone a goal down.
"There are a lot of good things but we're disappointed, especially with the second goal we've conceded.
"It was quick throw-in the second goal and it's very disappointing because we keep going on about that.
"To concede from that situation it's very disappointing and we need to learn because in the Champions League you'll get punished."
One positive for Liverpool was the return of Philippe Coutinho, who was brought on as a late substitute during the draw on Wednesday.
Coutinho was heavily linked with Barcelona throughout the summer transfer window after handing in a transfer request, although a move to the Nou Camp failed to materialise after Liverpool refused to sell the Brazil international.
When asked what keeping Coutinho means to Liverpool's season, Henderson said: "Massive, brilliant - I think you heard the crowd when he came on. He's been brilliant in training so hopefully he can have a big impact now he's back."
