Adam Lallana has returned to Liverpool's Melwood training ground for the latest stage in his recovery from a thigh injury.

The 29-year-old, who has been out of action since sustaining the injury against Atletico Madrid during pre-season, was sent to the Aspire clinic in Qatar to aid his rehabilitation.

The England midfielder will now continue his recovery with the medical team at Liverpool in a bid to aid his availability for selection by Jurgen Klopp and showed Liverpool fans his latest progress on social media.

The initial prognosis had initially stated Lallana would be sidelined for a couple of months but no definite timescale has been put on the former Southampton midfielder's return.

As a result, he is yet to play a single minute of competitive football for club or country this season.

Klopp admitted he was delighted at the sight of Lallana's return to the club's training facilities and is confident the playmaker remains on course for a November return.

"It's absolutely good news," Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com ahead of the Reds' Champions League meeting with Maribor. "I cannot say now, but maybe after the next international break he could be back.

"It would be fantastic for us, of course. Everybody knows what kind of a quality player he is, so it would be fantastic. We don't have to think about this. I cannot now mention it if I need it and then when I don't need it then I say it's not important. It is like it is.

"Of course, it's better if Adam could have scored in one game or another, but there is nothing we can do about this. It's just good that he's back in a few weeks."

Following his week's rehabilitation in Qatar, where he bumped into former Barcelona midfielder Xavi, Lallana posted on Instagram: "Great week stepping up the rehab even further - getting stronger each and every day.

"Added bonus of meeting and chatting to one of my idols as well - Xavi. So down to earth despite being one of the greatest players of his generation."
