Swansea manager Paul Clement feels his Swansea side deserved more

Swansea manager Paul Clement feels his Swansea side deserved more from the game after they lost 2-1 at Arsenal.

Sam Clucas had given Swansea the lead at the Emirates in the first half, only for two quick-fire Arsenal goals from Sead Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey in the second half.

Clement was disappointed with the result but happy with the first-half showing in particular, and praised Arsenal's quality in and around the penalty area.

He told Sky Sports: "The result? Disappointing. The performance was OK, good in the first half, it went according to plan and we looked very solid defensively. We had a good shape and there was very little space for them.

"I liked a lot of things about the performance today. We've played in games recently where our performances and results haven't been so good, and the results not so good either.

"Today the performance was better and I think we possibly deserved more than we got.

"They've got so much quality in and around the area, playing those little one-touch balls, give and go, and we just couldn't contain them in the second half."

Highlights: Arsenal 2-1 Swansea

Clement's Swansea are now teetering on the edge of the relegation zone after winning just one of their last seven league games, but the manager insists his side must take the positives going into crucial games against Brighton, Burnley and Bournemouth.

Clement said: "We knew we'd be under pressure in certain periods in the game, but up until the half we looked good. There were just some details in our defending; all the things we did well in the first half we didn't do in the second.

Matt Le Tissier suggested that Swansea should have been 2-0 up and out of sight at half-time in the defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium

"The more and more the game went on, we were a bit more offensive, but couldn't quite get that chance to get an equaliser.

"Of course they're disappointed. We came here with confidence. Clearly, we're not happy with the result, but we've got to draw upon some of the things we did in the first half and get ready for the next game."
