Jack Wilshere will not be selected in the England squad to play Germany and Brazil later this month, according to Sky sources.
The Arsenal midfielder had been tipped to return to the national team by his manager Arsene Wenger, despite barely featuring at club level so far this season.
"Personally, I think he's ready. He was not three weeks ago but he is today," Wenger said on Wednesday.
"He's ready. I have the same problem. He's competitive. In every single competition, he's ready to play. I would encourage him to do it.
"I can only repeat what I personally think: I don't know how you can keep a super-fit Jack out of the England squad."
Wilshere, whose last England appearance came as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016, has only played around 15 minutes of Premier League football this season despite his return to fitness.
England manager Gareth Southgate was in attendance for that appearance, the 25-year-old coming on as a substitute at Everton.
It is understood Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks will keep his place in the squad after impressing on his debut in Lithuania last month, with Southgate present for Spurs' 3-1 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday.
The England squad for the games against Germany on November 10 and Brazil on November 14 will be announced at 2pm on Thursday.
