We caught up with the Everton fans from Radio City’s The Blue Room and record transfer Gylfi Sigurdsson about the club’s hopes for the season and beyond.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has claimed Everton have signed him at just the right time as he’s approaching the peak of his powers.

The Icelandic international was the subject of a transfer tug of war between Everton and Swansea over the summer with his former club holding out for their £45m valuation.

Sigurdsson scored 30 goals in three seasons for Swansea and no player has scored more from direct free-kicks since 2012 in the Premier League.

According to the man himself, Everton fans can expect more of the same as he reaches the pinnacle of his career.

"I'm getting to the stage of my career when I'll be playing my best football," he told Sky Sports.

"Hopefully I can continue my development over the next few years."

He joined the club in August and became their club-record signing, costing almost £20m more than the previous record paid for Michael Keane the previous month.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman lifts the lid on what happened with Ross Barkley's proposed move to Chelsea on Deadline Day with an agreement having been made between the two clubs.

"It doesn't bother me - but the money being spent in football is crazy," he said.

"These things don't really get to me. I'm focused on doing the right things for the team."

Everton spent over £100m on eight signings this summer and have also recruited Wayne Rooney and Cuco Martina on free transfers.

Despite a tough opening few fixtures, they've started the season in good form, taking four points from a possible nine, including a 1-1 draw away at Manchester City.

Hopes are high around Goodison Park that Ronald Koeman can guide the club closer to the top six teams, but Sigurdsson thinks expectations should be more realistic.

"I think we have to be patient," he said.

"It's tough to break into that mix of clubs that are at the top. I think we're going in the right direction, with new players and young players."
