Everton have fined Wayne Rooney two weeks' wages following his conviction for drink-driving, Sky sources understand.

The striker was given a two-year driving ban at Stockport Magistrates' Court on Monday and Everton are understood to have fined the former England international, with the money to be donated to charity.

Sky sources understand Everton and Rooney have agreed on the fine being channelled into a range of programmes provided by the club in the Community, including health and well-being, mental health, youth engagement, employment and education.

Everton in the Community (EitC) is one of the UK's top sporting charities and is considered one of the Premier League's leading community schemes due to the quality and reach of it's various programmes.
