Davy Klaassen joined Everton from Ajax in the summer in a £23.6m deal but he has been back to his former club for a proper send-off.
The midfielder played 55 minutes of Everton's hard fought 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Goodison Park on Saturday before heading back to Amsterdam with Ronald Koeman's blessing.
Ahead of Ajax's game against Vitesse on Sunday, Klaassen got the chance to say goodbye and he was given a hero's welcome by the home crowd.
Klaassen won three Eredivisie titles with the Dutch side and led them to the Europa League final last season.
