Wales international Chris Gunter has followed his club manager Jaap Stam in signing a new contract at Reading.
The 27-year-old had just one year remaining on his last deal but is now set to remain with the Royals until 2020 under the terms of his latest contract.
Gunter is the longest-serving player currently on Reading's books and started all 49 Championship games including their three play-off encounters last season.
"He has a lot of experience, both with his club and his country," Stam told readingfc.co.uk.
"He has great ability, mentally he's strong and, importantly, you can always count on him. So I'm really pleased that the club have given him this new deal."
