Ilkay Gundogan could be set for yet another spell on the sidelines after the Manchester City midfielder limped off during the 2-1 Carabao Cup win at West Brom on Wednesday.

The Germany international returned following nine months out with a knee injury as a second-half substitute in the 6-0 victory over Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.

But in his first start since December, Gundogan appeared to suffer an ankle injury after being brought down by West Brom midfielder Claudio Yacob in the 58th minute.
