Valon Behrami has landed in Italy to complete a move to Udinese, according to Sky in Italy.

It is understood the 32-year-old will meet with Giampaolo Pozzo - the son of Watford owner Gino and the owner of Udinese - on Saturday to complete the transfer.

Watford boss Marco Silva, who earned a 3-3 draw against Liverpool in his first Premier League game in charge, said earlier his summer he expected Behrami to leave before the deadline.

Behrami was not part of the Hornets squad that drew with the Reds at Vicarage Road.

The Switzerland midfielder made 49 appearances for the Hornets following a £2.5m move from Hamburg in the summer of 2015.

He has been free to talk with other clubs and of interest to numerous Serie A sides as well as FC Sion in his home country.

Silva said last month: "Valon is working on the training ground but he's one player who won't stay with us.

"It's time for him to find other solutions for his career, and we will see where he will play, but he will not stay in our squad."
