Watford boss Marco Silva says he has been given assurances that none of his players will leave in the January window

Watford boss Marco Silva insists none of his squad will be leaving Vicarage Road during the January transfer window.

Abdoulaye Doucoure has been linked with a potential move away from the club after impressing this season but Silva expects the France midfielder to remain with the Hornets beyond the window.

"Doucoure has a long contract with us. If we want to change something with his contract, if the player is doing very well, it is up to us," said Silva.

"This possibility of him leaving the club, nobody has talked with me about this situation. Our board has already made its statement - nobody will leave the club in the January market.

"What we need to do is to improve our squad and not to allow people to leave."

When asked if he was worried about his players leaving, Silva said: "No. It is normal when you are in the window and it is a good sign if the market focuses on our players. It shows our players are doing well."

Watford ended a run of six games without a win after coming from behind to earn a 2-1 victory over Leicester on Boxing Day, and the Hornets can move further away from the drop zone when they face bottom club Swansea at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

"We need to focus more on our team, our work. We know it is a tough game, one more tough game for us. We know we need to be strong, to play with intensity to win the game," he said.

"We have already analysed our opponent tomorrow. Okay they have a new coach but it is not the first time for us this season.

"I remember when we played against West Ham and David Moyes. We did well, it is not the first time. We will do the same, to keep focused to win the match."
