Arsenal forward Stephy Mavididi has joined Sky Bet Championship side Preston on a season-long loan.

The England under-19 international will not be available for Preston's league opener against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, but can be selected for Tuesday's Carabao Cup tie with Accrington Stanley having been given clearance to play in all cup competitions from Arsenal.

"I'm delighted to get it over the line, I'm happy to sign and now I'm ready to kick on for the new season," Mavididi told Preston's official website.

"I just want to put on that shirt and run out do well. I'm buzzing, I can't wait to get started now."

Preston manager Alex Neil believes Mavididi's versatility will help boost his side's attack for the coming campaign, having impressed on loan at Charlton last season.

"I think he'll bring pace and a directness from either a wider area or a central nine," said Neil. "He's one of the players that can fluctuate between any of the top four - he can play on either flank, he's played as a ten he's played as a nine.
