Stoke City are racing against time to try to complete the signing of defender Bruno Martins Indi in time for him to be eligible to play in their opening fixture against Everton, Sky sources understand.
The Porto centre-back has yet to arrive in England to complete a medical, and the legal formalities of his transfer although we have been told Stoke are still confident the deal will be done.
A £7m fee has been agreed with Porto for the Holland international.
Meanwhile, Stoke defender Marc Muniesa remains in Spain, ready to complete his move to La Liga new boys Girona, but Hughes will not allow that move to go through until he has landed Martins Indi.
