Burnley manager Sean Dyche joked Andre Gray left the Clarets to join Watford because his girlfriend, Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock, requested entrance to the club's directors' box.
On Wednesday, Watford announced Gray's arrival for a club-record fee worth to be in the region of £18m, as Gray penned a five-year deal to become manager Marco Silva's seventh major summer signing.
Some media reports claimed the 26-year-old's departure was driven by the club banning singer Leigh-Anne from the Turf Moor Directors Box because she was too famous - a claim Dyche made light of.
"To be honest, his missus wanted a ticket to the directors' box so it was obvious he [Gray] had to go," he said, tongue-in-cheek.
"Michael Keane's brother wanted tea at half time instead of coffee so he had to go.
"It had nothing to do with them having a year left on their contract in the normal business of football, you can imagine."
