Norwich have agreed a fee with Newcastle for defender Grant Hanley, Sky sources understand.

The Scotland international has not featured for Rafa Benitez's side in the Premier League this season and does not appear to be in the Spaniard's plans.

The clubs are discussing both permanent and loan options, but we understand Hanley is keen on the move to get back playing regular football.

Hanley is currently with the Scotland squad as they prepare for Friday's World Cup Qualifier against Lithuania, live on Sky Sports, but has been given permission to leave the camp to have a medical in Norwich.

Hanley joined Newcastle from Blackburn for £5.5m last summer and the Magpies would hope to recoup the majority of that transfer fee if they agree to a permanent sale.
