Dundee United turned down an approach from Southampton for left-back Jamie Robson, Sky sources understand.
The 19-year-old has been a regular for the Scottish Championship side this season, but his contract is due to expire next summer.
It is understood United had no intention of selling the player during the summer transfer window as they look to secure promotion back to the Scottish Premiership.
Robson has played 37 times for the Tayside club and has previously enjoyed a loan spell at Brechin City.
