La Liga President Javier Tebas has launched an attack on PSG and Manchester City for their transfer activity.

French league bosses have defended high-spending PSG amid controversial comments of 'financial doping' made by La Liga's Javier Tebas.

The La Liga president had openly criticised PSG following their world-record summer deal for Barcelona's Neymar during an appearance at the Soccerex conference on Wednesday.

He claimed clubs such as PSG and Manchester City were "laughing" at the Financial Fair Play regulations set by UEFA.

"We've caught [PSG] peeing in the swimming pool and Neymar is peeing off the diving board," Tebas said when asked his opinion on Neymar's move away from Barcelona."

The 55-year-old Costa Rican added more fuel to the fire by suggesting that such transfers were inflating costs for all clubs and ultimately destroying the industry.

"I think their release clauses are higher but [PSG chairman] Nasser [Al-Khelaifi] can just open the gas pumps and buy them, so why not?" Tebas added when questioned whether Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo could be the next to move away from Spain.

Despite such comments, top bosses at the Ligue de Football Professionel (LFP) were quick to defend spending that saw the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe arrive in the French capital this summer.

"The LFP firmly condemns the insulting comments from LaLiga president Mr Javier Tebas concerning Paris St Germain," a statement read.

"These unworthy remarks are unbefitting an institution as respectable and successful as the Spanish league.

"The LFP would underline that only UEFA is empowered to adjudicate on matters pertaining to Paris St Germain's respect of financial fair play regulations.

"After meeting [on Thursday], the LFP's administration reaffirms its support for Paris St Germain in the face of this campaign of denigration waged over the last few weeks by certain big European clubs."
