European sides can't strengthen their squads until January, but that doesn't stop deals from being struck and contracts being agreed ahead of the winter transfer window opening.

Real Madrid are considering a double swoop for Tottenham Hotspur stars Dele Alli and Harry Kane after the pair impressed against the European champions in Spurs' 3-1 Champions League victory at Wembley earlier this week. (Marca)

Italy

AC Milan boss Vincenzo Montella is on thin ice at the San Siro after slipping eight points outside the Champions League qualification places in Serie A. The Rossoneri spent more than £150m in the summer and are hoping for a quick return on their investment. If Montella is dispensed with, Milan could turn to former midfielder and current youth team coach Gennaro Gattuso. A loss to Sassuolo today could well see the change made. (Corierre dello Sport)

Edinson Cavani's brother, who is also his agent, has refused to rule out an eventual return to Napoli for the Paris Saint-Germain striker. "At the moment he is thinking of PSG, but he has always had this idea of returning to Naples," Fernando Guglielmone said, "it is normal that he can come back in the future. Any thoughts of a Juventus move for Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam have been put on hold by the Algerian's cruciate knee ligament injury. The Bianconeri were linked with a swoop for the 26-year-old as an eventual replacement for Chelsea transfer target Alex Sandro. (Calciomercato)

Germany

Bayern Munich will look for a back-up option to Robert Lewandowski in the January transfer window, but sporting director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admits finding a player of the requisite quality will not be easy: "The possibilities will be limited. If you have a good player, you will not give it up or only for horrendous money. But we will not be ready and unable to spend horrendous money on a transfer. " (Sky Germany)
