Manchester City will be aiming to win a 15th successive Premier League game and eclipse Arsenal's old record when they travel to Swansea on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola's side have won their last 14 matches in the league - already a record for a single season - but they could go one better than the Gunners' side of 2002 who won 14 consecutive games between February and August that year.

If City beat Swansea at the Liberty Stadium, they will set a new outright record in the Premier League - winning 15 games in a row - and Guardiola says he is now solely focused on the Swans after Sunday's victory over Manchester United.

"I said to my players forget about what happened [in the Manchester derby]. Swansea is now the most important thing and after that, Tottenham," said Guardiola.

"It's what I have done all my career and is what I am going to do in the future. I try to give to my players the best advice I can, because first we represent ourselves and then we represent the club."

Swansea picked up a hugely important win on Saturday when they beat West Brom 1-0, lifting them into 19th place above Crystal Palace, and just one point adrift of safety.

The first two Premier League meetings between these sides at the Liberty Stadium produced just one goal - the subsequent four have seen both sides score each time, producing a total of 17 goals (4.3 per game).

Manchester City have won 46 points after 16 games this season - that points tally would have been enough to secure eighth position in the Premier League at the end of 2016-17.

Swansea have the exact same record after 16 games this season as they did in 2016-17 - W3 D3 L10, winning 12 points. However, at this stage last season 54 goals had been scored in their matches while they have only seen 27 this season - half the tally.

Kevin De Bruyne has assisted 17 goals in the Premier League in 2017 - the only players with more within a single Premier League calendar year are Mesut Ozil (20 in 2015) and Thierry Henry (19 in 2003).

Wilfried Bony has scored in his last two Premier League games and will be looking to score in three in a row for the first time since October 2014. The Ivorian scored just six goals in 36 Premier League appearances for Manchester City before re-joining Swansea in August.

Yaya Toure has been involved in more Premier League goals against Swansea than he has versus any other opponent in the competition (seven; four goals, three assists).

    Merson's prediction

Swansea got an unbelievable result at the weekend, they had to win that. This will be easy for City, though, as they are far too good. If Man Utd are petrified of City, Swansea have got no chance. The pressure is off, it is a free swing. They just have to make sure City don't rack up a big score really.

Paul predicts: 0-3 (13/2 with Sky Bet)

    Betting

Manchester City are just 2/9 with Sky Bet to maintain their winning run as Swansea are priced at 10/1 for the victory and 5/1 to hold out for a draw. Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero share favouritism in the first goalscorer market at 5/2 apiece while Tammy Abraham is rated the hosts' main threat at 10/1 to net first.
