Watford are closing in on the signing of Andre Gray from Burnley, having agreed to pay £18.5million for the striker.

The 26-year-old is set to finalise a move before the start of the season, with a medical expected to be taken on Wednesday, and will become the seventh signing made by new head coach Marco Silva.

Gray scored nine Premier League goals for Burnley last season and his arrival comes after Watford on Tuesday completed the signing of Brazilian winger Richarlison for £11.5m.

The Hornets net spend for the summer will soar above £30m upon completion of the deal, after Nathaniel Chalobah and Will Hughes arrived for £8m each from Chelsea and Derby respectively.

Burnley accepted an offer from Watford because Gray, who moved to Turf Moor from Brentford for £9m in 2015, was in the final year of his contract.

Brentford have a 20 per cent sell-on fee from the transfer of two years ago so are set to profile to the tune of £1.9m.
