Incredible picture shows same Manchester City fans goading Wayne Rooney five years apart - and he loves it
If a picture paints a thousand words, then one particular image from Everton's 1-1 draw with Manchester City included a fair few explicit ones.
Wayne Rooney became just the second player to score 200 Premier League goals with a neat side-footed finish on Monday night.
The former Manchester United striker, who was the subject of chants all night from the Etihad crowd, tweeted a picture of himself celebrating in front of Man City fans.
"Always nice to see a few familiar faces," the Everton striker wrote in his tweet, which has so far been shared almost 90,000 times.
Little did Rooney know at the time just how familiar those faces were.
After some forensic examination from one eagle-eyed fan on Twitter, three Man City supporters reacted to Rooney's goal in the exact same fashion as five years previous, when the striker scored twice in Manchester United's 3-2 win at the Etihad.
Rooney received a congratulations message from Alan Shearer, who Rooney joins as the only player to reach the 200-goal milestone.
"It's been lonely in this Premier League 200 club. Welcome and congratulations Wayne Rooney," Shearer wrote on Twitter.
The 30-year-old Liverpudlian continued to rile City fans as he landed a subtle dig at his former rivals in an interview with Sky Sports after the game.
Asked by Gary Neville how it felt to score his 200th goal at the home of his one-time city rivals, Rooney replied: "What, again?"
"To do it today in such an important game for us, with tough games coming up, it was a sweet moment and I am sure the red half of Manchester will have enjoyed it as well," Rooney added.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman paid homage to the striker's achievement after the match.Â
 "He is still the player that every manager needs in his team. He is back home. He is that teacher for younger players. We would like to win titles and he knows how to win titles. He has that cleverness to know the best decision on the pitch," said Koeman.
"Players over 30 need regular game time. He had a good pre-season - trained and played a lot. He is in the physical state he needs to give these performances."
