Manager Tony Pulis is ready to make a West Brom transfer record bid of £30 million for Liverpool centre-back Mamadou Sakho as he prepares to sell his captain Jonny Evans to Manchester City for more than that. Pulis is also after three other signings and will consider a move for Watford striker Troy Deeney but has abandoned his bid for Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer.

Watford want Slimani

Watford have launched an ambitious bid for Leicester’s record signing Islam Slimani. Head coach Marco Silva Slimani wants more firepower and is working on a possible loan deal for the Algerian international. Slimani was signed from Sporting Lisbon in a deal worth up to £28m last year but had a mixed first campaign, scoring eight goals.

Villa secure Snodgrass

Aston Villa have signed West Ham’s Robert Snodgrass on loan and could offload £12m fellow Scotish striker Ross McCormack who is a target for new Sunderland manager Simon Grayson. McCormack is lined up for a loan move after falling out of favour with Steve Bruce.

Irvine heads to Hull

Hull City are set to confirm the £1.2m capture of Burton Albion’s Australia international Jackson Irvine, while they are also pursuing Leicester attacker Ahmed Musa and Sheffield Wednesday’s Barry Bannan.
