Outgoing

Southampton have said farewell to Jordy Clasie, for the rest of the season.

And a consonant please...

West Brom have pulled off quite the coup, as Grzegorz Krychowiak signs on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, as John Percy told you yesterday.

Medical imminent

Our man on Merseyside Chris Bascombe has the news and it is thus: A £35m fee has been agreed between Arsenal and Liverpool for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The price is right

There is still no word from either Arsenal or Liverpool, and Colossal Sports Management's tweet below has mysteriously been deleted... but the Telegraph understands a fee has been agreed for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Still a few hoops to jump through before The Ox officially becomes a Liverpool player, but it's looking likely.

Has The Ox signed for Liverpool?

This is reportedly Oxlade-Chamberlain's management team...

Oxlade-Chamberlain faces race against time

Liverpool's pursuit of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to enter the final day of the transfer window, complicating the midfielder's England preparations.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is due to fly to Malta with the England squad on Thursday ahead of Friday's World Cup qualifier, but it is possible his future will still need to be resolved.

Chelsea want veteran striker

Swansea striker Fernando Llorente could move to Chelsea before Thursday night's transfer deadline.

It is understood the Premier League champions are yet to lodge a bid for the 32-year-old Spain striker, who played under Blues head coach Antonio Conte at Juventus.

But there is firm interest in a player who has one year remaining on his two-year contract with Swansea and turns 33 in February.

Llorente has not played this term due to an arm injury and the Swans will be keen to secure a replacement before selling the striker.

Tammy Abraham, on loan from Chelsea, has been deputising in his absence.

Where's Arsene?

It's that time of the year again when Uefa's leading former players and managers meet for the elite coaches course.

While Manchester United managers past (and present) have turned out, one usual attendee is missing: Arsene Wenger.

Aurier given green light for Tottenham

Here's the full story from Matt Law.

And they're not done yet, lining up a fourth signing of the summer:

Tottenham are also primed to complete the £8m signing of central defender Juan Foyth from Estudiantes and wants a midfielder or an attacking player before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night.

Bayern president: We're not going to pay €100m for any player

The huge increase in soccer transfer fees is both dangerous for the game and risks alienating fans, Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness said on Wednesday.

The world transfer record was shattered this month when Brazil's Neymar moved from Barcelona to Paris St Germain in a deal worth 222 million euros ($265.2 million), more than double the previous highest price paid for a player.

The staggering spending did not stop there, however, and Ousmane Dembele then joined Barca from Borussia Dortmund last week, with the Frenchman's move costing up to 150 million euros, including bonuses, the second highest deal in soccer history.

Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe has also been linked in the media with a move to PSG in a deal reported to be worth 180 million euros.

"In my opinion there is no player in the world worth 100 million euros," Hoeness told SportBild magazine.

"I do not want to buy a player for 100 million euros even if I had the money. That would be too much of a waste of money," said Hoeness, who reclaimed the Bayern presidency last year after serving a prison term for tax evasion.

Liverpool and Arsenal talk over Oxlade-Chamberlain

The Gunners midfielder rejected a move to Chelsea earlier today and now it would appear Liverpool have started discussions with Arsenal.

Will they match the £35million Chelsea offered?

And in further cryptic tweeting...

....has Grzegorz Krychowiak's move to West Brom gone through? It would appear so.

Aurier to Tottenham looking good

It looks like Serge Aurier has been granted a work permit from the Home Office, and will therefore complete his £23million move to Spurs from PSG. Here's the background to that deal.

Liverpool and Monaco officials 'meeting over Thomas Lemar transfer'

That's according to reports in France.

Here's what he would bring to Liverpool if it did go through.

What would that mean for Oxlade-Chamberlain?

Done deal: Gibbs completes his move to West Brom

And thus ends a 14-year association with Arsenal. The move is £7million.

And a farewell note, too.

Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid still a possibility

According to Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo, the club remain optimistic.

Cerezo said: “He [Costa] has a contract with another club, it’s a complicated matter.

“We are taking things with ease. As long as Chelsea do not agree to his transfer, Costa will be [a] Chelsea [player].

“Am I pessimistic or optimistic regarding the arrival of Costa? I am always optimistic.”

Comment on Sanchez: His team-mates don't want anyone challenging culture of mediocrity

Charlie Eccleshare's take on Alexis Sanchez and his team-mates wanting him sold before tomorrow's deadline.

It's no surprise really that Arsenal's players want Sanchez to leave. A culture of mediocrity has engulfed the club over the last decade, and anyone who challenges the cosy environment is castigated as an outlier.

This is a club remember where the manager sets his own (modest) goals, fails to meet them, but is kept on anyway. This is a club where under-achieving players are rewarded with bumper contracts that make them unsellable. This is a club where Yaya Sanogo recently found gainful employment for four years.

Sanchez challenged the mediocrity, and must be gotten rid of as a result. Good riddance. Please leave Alexis, and allow Arsenal to sleepwalk to a seventh-placed finish in peace.

Danny Drinkwater latest from John Percy

Drinkwater has handed in a transfer request at Leicester City but a move to Chelsea is hanging in the balance.

Drinkwater, the England international, submitted an official request on Monday in a bid to force through a move to the Premier League champions.

Chelsea have offered around £25 million for Drinkwater and have been in talks with Leicester for the past fortnight in a bid to agree a deal. But Leicester are sticking to a valuation of £40m and there is now a chance the club's owners could even demand a bigger fee after this latest development.

It is understood that Drinkwater made it clear he wanted to speak to Chelsea weeks ago but it was only on Monday that he made his desire to leave official.

Chelsea latest

Plenty going on at Stamford Bridge, it would appear. Our correspondent Matt Law says Fernando Llorente is close to joining.

Danny Drinkwater has handed in a transfer request at Leicester amid talk of a move to Chelsea.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain will not be joining the club having rejected an offer.

Transfer Talk latest

It could be an exciting 36 hours for West Brom fans, according to our man in the Midlands John Percy.

The Baggies are looking to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Poland international Grzegorz Krychowiak on loan.

The 27 year-old could fly into England for a medical if talks continue to run smoothly.

Krychowiak was seen as one of Europe's best defensive midfielders during his time at Sevilla but he has endured a difficult campaign under old manager Unai Emery in Paris.

There's also Chelsea, Stoke and Everton transfer news in his column. You can read it here.

Coutinho going nowhere part 32

It's been a busy summer of denials at Liverpool, who have remained firm in their stance that Philippe Coutinho is going nowhere.

Here the answer to Chris Bascombe's latest enquiry:

And it looks as though even Barcelona have given up. This morning's Mundo Deportivo leads on Barca looking for a plan B.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chelsea and Liverpool

Last night it emerged that Oxlade-Chamberlain's preferred destination is Liverpool, not Chelsea. Arsenal had already agreed a fee with Stamford Bridge officials, leaving the transfer up in the air.

Are Liverpool interested? Here's what our Merseyside correspondent Chris Bascombe says:

Liverpool have been monitoring Oxlade-Chamberlain’s situation at Arsenal. If the player’s preference is a move to Anfield, Liverpool would match Chelsea’s £35m bid and he would be a viable alternative to Lemar. But there is an added complication because Arsenal are understood to favour Oxlade-Chamberlain heading to Stamford Bridge over Anfield as they perceive Liverpool as a more direct rival for a Champions League spot.

The clock is ticking....

We could be in for a very busy 36 hours. The summer transfer window slams shut tomorrow night with the futures of several big-name players up in the air.

Nobody more so than Alexis Sanchez. Arsenal have rejected an approach from Manchester City as Pep Guardiola steps up his pursuit of the Chile forward.

As James Ducker reports, the Gunners have rejected a £50million bid for Sanchez - but a bigger offer is on its way.

Sanchez has entered the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal's resolve is being tested by their Premier League rivals ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

West Brom have agreed a fee to take Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs to the Hawthorns, but it is the future of Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain that will really occupy the minds of Gunners fans.

City continue to appear the likely destination should Sanchez depart, while England international Oxlade-Chamberlain has a couple of suitors. Chelsea have agreed a £40million fee with Arsenal for Oxlade-Chamberlain but the 24-year-old has turned down a move to Stamford Bridge as he wants to join Liverpool.

With just hours before the transfer deadline at 11pm BST on Thursday, the pair could yet complete their moves.

We'll be bringing you all the latest from what could be a busy couple of days here throughout the day.
