Alexis Sanchez has said he is 'tired of telling the world everything is well' following Chile's World Cup qualifier defeat to Bolivia.

The 1-0 defeat came less than a week after Sanchez failed to secure a summer move to Manchester City after Arsenal missed out on a deal to sign Thomas Lemar as his replacement.

With just two World Cup qualifiers remaining, Chile are sixth in their South American group and face the prospect of missing out on next year's tournament in Russia.

"You get tired of being criticized with reason and without reason, you get tired of wanting to be defeated, you get tired of saying to yourself "I'll get up again" after crying after a defeat, and you get tired of telling the world and people who are with you, that everything is going well," Sanchez wrote in a lengthy Instagram message.

"And the worst, that no one ever realises how that makes you feel. I have the No 7 of Chile on my back and it is a huge responsibility, that's why I'm sorry that journalists and bad people criticise without knowing."

The striker made no reference to his time at Arsenal in the caption accompanying the Instagram post, but included a picture of himself following the club's FA Cup final triumph last season.

Sanchez, who is in the final year of his contract at Arsenal, looks destined to leave the club, with Manchester City understood to be preparing a bid in Janaury.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on Tuesday called for the January transfer window to be scrapped.

“The players who do not play or the players who are tapped up in October they already start again to think, ‘where do I go in January?’” said Wenger.

“The ideal situation would be to have a transfer period that is closed 48 hours before the first game of the championship and to close it completely until after the season.

“I believe that we have to bring some decency. We all complain today that it has become too much a business, but we can do something about it. We have that responsibility in the game.”

Arsenal welcome Bournemouth to the Emirates on Saturday as they look to halt a two-game losing streak in the Premier League.
