Elneny's first act of note, lunges towards Hazard and gets a yellow. Not sure that was totally justified, looked like he got the ball. Bit wild though, I guess.

Agree with Paul. Centre forward is the only position in which Chelsea could wish for an upgrade.

But here's another foul by Mustafi on Morata, and this time Oliver blows. Willian receives the freekick and shoots, well over.

I quite fancy Mustafi to give away a pen here. He's got his hands full, with Morata. And now, literally, he has got hands all over him, and hauls him down. Luckily, Child Referee Prodigy Michael Oliver finds in his favour.

Wellbeck, clever dink through, but Courtois has read his mind and he's there ahead of Ramsey.

Bakayoko runs, slips it out to Alonso. Comes inside. Shoots. Bellerin blocks.

Chelsea needed the steel and discipline of Bakayoko and probably worth sacrificing the more expressive Pedro to add a bit of control.

Ball into the box, Luiz tries an overhead kick. Misses the ball. Connects with Koscileny's face, though. Yellow card. Entirely accidental. How comes, people will ask, that was a yellow and Mane's a red?

Fabregas to Morata, wasteful shot.

Morata set free, beats Mustafi, tries to flick it to Willian but Arsenal can clean up. Maybe should have gone himself, Morata. Arsenal break in their turn, Wellbeck also guilty of being too unselfish as he tries to play it off rather than driving for the box. That move also snuffed out.

Right then. That was an encouraging half from Arsenal, but it's Chelsea who are first to show in the second half. Willian down the right and a hard, well struck shot.... straight at Cech.

Bakayoko is replacing Pedro.

Arsene will be really pleased. Arsenal weathered an early storm and have landed some blows of their own.

Arsenal doing really well here, they've got Chelsea rattled and unsettled. Here they come again, a nice through ball, Luiz having to earn his corn with some old fashioned stopper-ing.

Monreal with a weird backpass! Absolutely wellies it, Cech has to control with his chest and clear.

Oh Arsenal! So close. Ramsey on a run, he gets the break of the ball and somehow manages to bundle through, he stabs a shot.... it hits the post and the rebound comes back to Lacazette. Who slaps it miles over! Ooooh, chance.

Alan Smith: "Arsenal have a better shape today, looks like they have been doing some work on the training ground, which they don't always do."

It's fascinating to me, Arsenal's situation. I mean, what the heck else are they doing all week?! 

Iwobi has a freekick. Crosses in. Corner. That cleared.

Moses spins away from his man on the edge of the Chelsea box and bombs forward. I really like him and Willian in the same side, shuttlers par excellence, so hard to play against. They can turn D into A at any second. once you add Hazard back into this, my goodness. Only possible question mark is over the forward Morata at the tip of the spear. Not saying that he has not made a good start to his Stamford Bridge career, just that it is early days.

Arsenal enjoying some good times down that right flank. Xhaka with a decent long-range effort, shaves the outside of the post.

Fabregas has a freekick down the left. Plays short, one two. Slings it into big Luiz. Good defending by Arsenal. Actually, looking at it again: Xhaka has got David L in a bearhug there. Risky move away from home at a big club.

Chelsea fans chant: "You let your country down."

Discipline.

Classic Arsenal, that, I guess. Starting to look really useful going forward, and then a schoolboy bit of defending. Look at how those two Chelsea men have been allowed to run through there. Is the back three trying to play some sort of offside trap? I like Wenger, but how can you not call these sort of incidents terrible failures of coaching?

But here's the other side of Arsenal's game. Undone by the simplest of balls, Fabregas flips it over the top and Arsenal are bamboozled like a five-year-old being shown a bunny in a top-hat.

Pedro is on to it, in the clear, and should have scored. Bad miss. 

Again a good moment for Arsenal, Kolasinac works the keeper after a nice move.

Arsenal starting to show! This is a better passage. Twice in quick succession Bellerin gets down the right and gets his ball in. Saved both times but this will please watching Gooners.

First Danny Welbeck...

.. and then Lacazette...

There's danger everywhere you look in this Chelsea side. Moses now. Brilliant darting run,  gets nearly to the byline and crosses, it's just over Morata's head.

Willian, though, finds Alonso. This is a more dangerous move. Cross in! Morata goes close with the header but was offside. Azpilicueta, who delivered the ball, is forming a nice understanding with the forward.

Chelsea, to be quite frank, look a much, much better side than Arsenal in almost every department.

Moses came off worse, bit of a delay while he gets treatment. Game needs a couple of minutes to re-gather itself, and there's a nondescript period while Luiz et all try some long balls that amount to little.

Moses and Lacazette bang knees together (not a euphemism) and neither of them enjoyed that very much.

Chelsea have a corner, they work it short. Lacazette is dozing, allows Fabregas to get to the byline. Crosses. Turns behind for another corner. That one dealt with ok.

First shot of the game, the lively Pedro hitting the target after a neat move. 

Fabregas comes deep, chips it forward. The pace of Pedro and the persistence of Moses together rattle Arsenal and Cech has to look lively to deal with a cross.

Willian plays the ball forward, first bright and potentially dangerous move, but that's neatly cut out by  Koscielny at the back for Arsenal.

It's the Blues who kick off. Jeremy Wilson has news on Ozil:

Mesut Ozil will miss Arsenal’s London derby at Chelsea today after suffering a knee injury following the win against Bournemouth.

Ozil had also been rested from the Europa League victory against Cologne in an attempt to get himself ready for the match but he will be replaced by Alex Iwobi, with Arsene Wenger also deciding that Alexis Sanchez does not have the match fitness to start.

Ozil’s injury has been described as “minor” and he is expected to return next week.

It leaves a front three of Alexandre Lacazette, Iwobi and Danny Welbeck. Arsenal are otherwise unchanged from the team that beat Bournemouth, with only Iwobi, Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal starting today against Chelsea and also beginning the match on Thursday with Cologne.

"If I was a Chelsea player, after that Cup Final? I would want to turn them over big style."

"We have 7 games in 21 days, it is about making the best decision game by game. Eden close to starting, very close. I have not mentioned Cup Final to players"

When Ramsey comes too far forward, ahead of Lacazette even, and then they lose the ball... meaning that opponents can stream through their unoccupied midfield. And having their wingbacks out wide means that they are even thinner.

Carragher asks him whether Wenger will tell Ramsey this, and Henry says "no". He thinks that Wenger will leave it up to the player himself to "have the discipline" or else it is up to one of the centre halves to say "oi where are you going".

Chelsea

Midfielder Danny Drinkwater is expected to be out until the October international break and will miss Sunday's clash with Arsenal.

Drinkwater was an unused substitute against his former club Leicester last Saturday and missed the midweek Champions League win over Qarabag with a calf problem which means he could be out for four weeks.

Chelsea are likely to rotate their options after making changes for the Qarabag contest, with playmaker Eden Hazard in contention to start for the Blues for the first time this season.

Alexis Sanchez will feature after playing the whole game on Thursday night, where Theo Walcott (calf) hobbled off. Francis Coquelin (hamstring) and Santi Cazorla (ankle) are definitely out.

"It is good to face Arsenal now. Everybody is healthy and things are going well. We won at Leicester, won comfortably (on Tuesday night) and will go into the Arsenal game with a good feeling.

"We are doing well. After the bad first half against Burnley, I think all our performances have been good. We have shown good spirit, good football and good wins most importantly of all.

"Do we feel like we are in a good place? Yes. Sometimes it is good to face a big team early. Last year it didn't work out against Liverpool and Arsenal, but this season we have already won at Tottenham.

"Arsenal had a few bad matches, but won comfortably (against Bournemouth) last weekend.

Arsenal got back to winning ways against Bournemouth - but Sunday brings a new test of their ability to compete away to the Premier League's leading sides.

Arsene Wenger takes his team to champions Chelsea, where they have not won since 2011 - part of a dismal recent away record against all the clubs who finished last season in the top six.

The Gunners have won only two such games out of 21 since the start of the 2013-14 season, with their last victory coming at Manchester City in January 2015 - since when their record shows five draws and eight defeats, including their current five-game losing run.
