Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez announces the sacking of Rafael Benitez as the club’s coach on Monday. Zinedine Zidane, who has been revealed as Benitez’ replacement, says he will put his whole heart into the club and try to make everything work out. Sources close to Benítez say that he was not informed of the decision and only on Monday morning was still being assured by the club’s chief executive, José Ángel Sánchez, that his job was safe.
