Ian Wright sends advice to Philippe Coutinho about Liverpool

The Arsenal legend believes Philippe Coutinho should look to force through a move away from Liverpool

Philippe Coutinho should do everything in his power to force a move to Liverpool after having watched his team’s defending at Watford, Ian Wright has claimed.

The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona in recent weeks despite Liverpool insisting the attacking midfielder is not for sale.

According to reports, Liverpool have already turned down at least one offer for the 25-year-old attacker, with the Reds thought to be holding out for an offer in the region of 136m deal.

The 25-year-old handed in a transfer request at the Merseyside club last week as Coutinho looks to force through a move the four-time Champions League winners.

Liverpool surrendered a lead in added time at Vicarage Road was Watford score a late equaliser to hold the London side to a 3-3 draw in the English capital.

Former Arsenal striker Wright warned that Coutinho will be even more desperate to leave having watched Liverpool’s poor defensive performance at Watford.

“If I were Coutinho, I would do everything I can do in my power to go to Barcelona having watched Liverpool defend,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Liverpool should cash in and buy some defenders.”

Coutinho moved to Liverpool in an £8.5m deal from Serie A giants Inter Milan in the 2013 January transfer window.

The Reds have signed three players in the summer transfer window so far.
