Ex-striker makes bold Man United claim about Paul Pogba

The former Arsenal striker believes Manchester United star Paul Pogba will become one of the world's best midfielders

Stewart Robson has backed Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba to blossom into a world-class player in the next couple of seasons.

The Red Devils signed the France international from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window after Manchester United coughed up an £89m deal for the midfielder.

Pogba struggled to exert his dominance on the Premier League last season after he scored five goals and made four assists in 31 appearances last term.

The 24-year-old was criticised for his mixed performances despite Manchester United winning the EFL Cup and the Europa League last season.

Pogba has already made an impression on the 2017-18 campaign after the France star scored Manchester United’s fourth goal in a 4-0 victory over West Ham United last weekend.

Former Arsenal striker Robson is under no illusion that Pogba will become the world’s best midfielder at Manchester United.

“Pogba can do all aspects of the game,” Robson told The Times podcast.

“He looked magnificent [against West Ham]. Pogba will be the best midfield player in world football within the next couple of years.”

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season.

The decorated club haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson won his final top-flight crown.

The Red Devils have only finished in the top four once since the Scottish legend stood down as manager.
