Premier League: Jose Mourinho says Chelsea supporters were too quiet during win over QPR

Jose Mourinho called for more from the Stamford Bridge crowd after watching Chelsea labour to victory over QPR.

Goals from Oscar and Eden Hazard gave the hosts a hard-fought 2-1 win and maintained the Premier League leaders' 100% home record this season.

But despite opening a nine-point lead over Manchester City Mourinho was not happy - with himself, his players or the home support.

He said: "Everyone knows how much I feel connected to this club and the fans," he said. "At this moment it's difficult for us to play at home, though, because playing here is like playing in an empty stadium.

"The team then starts playing like it's a quiet, soft game at home. It's difficult to get that strong start where the players, team and fans at Stamford Bridge (are all together).

"I was today looking around and it was empty, but not in terms of people because it was obviously full. That's what is frustrating.

Jose Mourinho was less than impressed with Chelsea's performance despite the Blues' 2-1 victory over QPR.

"It was a completely deserved victory, but not a good performance. We had good periods, and some moments of good reaction to negative periods, but I didn't think we played our complete game as we normally do. It was my responsibility. I was not intense, they were not intense.

"But we deserved to win because we had lots of chances and Eden Hazard was a player who gave a fantastic performance, but in reality they were a team who had great defensive organisation.

"They made it very difficult for us but we have to play better. They changed their system and defended well. We couldn't score the third goal to win the game and that kept them in it too long.

"Harry (Redknapp) has a lot of experience and tried to close every way to the goal but I think if we play better, if you play consecutively well I think you win the game with different numbers but we had a fantastic reaction after they equalised.

It was my responsibility. I was not intense, they were not intense.

"Rob Green kept them in the game because we had two or three very good chances to score the third goal and kill the game and I think Green kept them in the game until the final whistle."

Oscar's goal was the highlight of the afternoon as he flicked a first-time shot with the outside of his right boot from the angle into the far corner, much to the delight of his manager.

"The goal is not impossible in a very talented boy," Mourinho said. "For 90 minutes I think he was our best player. Not for the goal, but for the dynamic, for the intensity, for the transitions. He was always sharp.

"He was fantastic. He played Sunday (at Manchester United), he played Tuesday (at Shrewsbury), he played today. Some other guys didn't play midweek, so I would expect other people to be sharper than Oscar, but in the end Oscar, for me, was our best player."
