Leicester City vs. Manchester City, 2017 Premier League: Final Score 0-2, City remain unbeaten with dominant away win

Manchester City extended their unbeaten, record-breaking start to the Premier League season with a 2-0 win away from home against Leicester City. The Blues had a poor start to the game, but turned it on in the second half and dominated the Foxes with ease. The only bad news from this game is the injury to John Stones, who could be out for a while with a hamstring problem.

FIRST HALF

The first 45 minutes were surprisingly poor from the Blues. City did a very good job of playing out from the back and were able to deal with Leicester’s pressure quite well, but once the ball got to the feet of the midfielders and forwards we saw a shocking number of wayward passes and poor attempts on goal.

That was the case until the very last minute of the half when City were finally able to put together a good attacking move, and it was a sensational attacking move full of great passing and movement that ended with David Silva giving Gabriel Jesus a tap-in against an open net.

At halftime, a poor performance from City ended with a brilliant goal, and that could be the spark for a strong second half.

SECOND HALF

Leicester began the second half in attack mode, and Harry Maguire nearly equalized after a corner, but after his shot hit the post City went on a devastating counter attack that ended with an incredible long-range strike from Kevin De Bruyne that doubled the lead for the Blues.

The halftime talk and the two-goal lead clearly improved things for City, and we finally got to see the team that’s been dominating the league. The passing was a lot better in the final third, and a number of clear-cut chances were created throughout the final period. City couldn’t score a third, though, and the final 10 minutes were a little nervous as Leicester committed bodies forward and looked to find a goal to get back in the game.

City dealt with the pressure well, however, and managed to keep the clean sheet and end another great performance with another comfortable victory. This team looks better and better, and it’ll be hard to stop it.
