For a while it seemed like Manchester City pulled off a major signing on Deadline Day, but apparently they won’t. Arsenal will not sell Alexis Sánchez without a replacement, and City have given up on the Chilean’s chase despite having agreed a £60 million deal with the Gunners earlier today.
David Ornstein from the BBC reports:
As others report #MCFC Sanchez bid over. Conditional agreement reached £55m+£5m but #AFC needed replacement. Lemar said no so Sanchez stays

Man City have no plans to resurrect Sanchez move by offering player in exchange or more money for straight cash deal #MCFC #AFC #DeadlineDay

Arsenal offered £92 million for AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, but the Frenchman said no to Arsenal and they decided not to go through with the Alexis Sánchez deal. As things stand, this is a major blow for City, and they might finish the day empty-handed with the signing of Jonny Evans looking increasingly unlikely.
Let’s move on, then.
