Welcome back to the Etihad, Champions League! While we as Manchester City fans don’t really like UEFA and we boo the Champions League anthem, the competition itself is really fun and the Blues are back in action with their second group stage game, at home to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Because people don’t care about Ukrainian football, it seems like Shakhtar will be another easy opponent that City will just demolish like they did against Watford FC, Feyenoord and Crystal Palace over the last few weeks. It won’t be. Shakhtar are a very good football team with a core of very good Brazilians and a capable striker who will cause plenty of problems to the Blues, even at the Etihad.

For Pep Guardiola and his men, they have to approach this one with the seriousness it deserves. Fans and pundits will think this is three points in the bag, but it’ll be tough and hard-fought and City will need to be at their best to get the win.
