We are now mere days from the return of club football and the narrative-fest that will be Spurs v Bournemouth. Will the Wembley curse that has plagued our league campaign thusfar finally be broken? Will JD Trouble celebrate when he inevitably scores against us? Will Adam Smith and Charlie Daniels prove just how foolish we were to release both of them (OK, I’m reaching a little bit now). In any case, you can be dead certain that this tie is going to be a great satisfying interesting game of football.

Everybody- everybody- hates penalty shootouts. So imagine winning one only to be forced to undergo the whole process a week later due to a mistake on the referee’s part, and then losing the second time out- a nightmare scenario endured this week by third-division Dutch side FC Lisse. Apparently the newly-introduced ABBA rules are to blame- I hear these regulations also clarify The Name of the Game and specify that the Winner Takes It All (do not @ me).
