Zinedine Zidane hails Harry Kane as “complete player”

No, you still can’t have him, Zizou.

Gosh, Harry Kane sure gets a lot of accolades lately, doesn’t he? He deserves them, and now he’s getting praise from the manager of Real Madrid, too. Zinedine Zidane was full of praise for the Tottenham Hotspur striker, calling him “a complete player” in a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League match between Madrid and Spurs at the Bernabeu.

"He's good at everything and he's always thinking about the goal in everything he does. I don't know what will happen in the future. But in the present, what he is doing has made him a very important player, a key player.

"He is a complete player. He did not seem to be one [at first], but in the end, he is."

Some may bristle slightly at the “he did not seem to be one” part, but let’s be honest, Kane’s ascendency kinda did come out of nowhere. This is the season where finally the conversation is less about “Is Harry Kane #actually good” and more about “Is Harry Kane world class and can he possibly get close to Shearer’s record”.

That said, Zidane didn’t let himself get sucked into saying that Spurs are “a Harry Kane team.” By the sound of it, Zizou is aware that if Spurs play well they have a chance of nicking a result tomorrow night. And he’s taking them seriously.

"We know he is a very good player and things are going well for him but Tottenham is not just Kane - they are a very good team and we will prepare for the game very well.

"We are playing against a very good team and that is good for us - it encourages us to play a good match."

That’s nice, Zizou, but Kane’s still not for sale. No, not Dele or Christian, either.
