How about that?
I’m sure you were watching yesterday as Spurs went to the Bernabeu and beat Real Madrid 1-1. It was a gutsy performance from Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who were under pressure for much of the game. The draw wouldn’t have been possible without the heroics of Hugo Lloris between the posts.
Hugo was incredible, as was the entire back-line. Spurs’ midfield was surprisingly strong. Harry Winks didn’t look like a 21-year-old, and Moussa Sissoko is turning into a footballer who is unironically good.
The other result from yesterday was also a favorable 1-1 draw. Dortmund tied with Cyprus with APOEL, which boosts our chances of qualifying for the knockout stages. Although Spurs lead Group H at the moment, we would be naive to take our position for granted. Poch and the squad know that there is more work to be done.
And I know I’m not Ed, but as I serve this week in his stead I will do my best to post some decent Themes of the Day. Hate on me if you don’t like them, not him!

Just a couple more things about that big game in Madrid yesterday. Firstly, Mauricio Pochettino was incredibly proud of the performance. He spoke about Spurs’ tactical flexibility and growth as a squad.
And secondly, the traveling Spurs fans seemed to be having a really good time in Madrid. We saw the Sissoko chant pre-match, but check out their impressive singing long after the final whistle had blown.

English teams did quite well in the Champions League yesterday. Spurs got their point, Manchester City held on against Napoli, and Liverpool smashed a poor Maribor side 7-0. Today they will be tested twice more. Chelsea take on Roma, while Manchester United face Benfica.
Sam Allardyce is one of the more interesting characters in English football. But if recent reports are to be believed, he could be moving across the pond. ESPNFC claim that Big Sam is interested in taking over as boss of the United States Men’s National Team.
Or maybe Big Sam could end up at Leicester, where Craig Shakespeare has just been sacked. The Daily Mail say he’s interested in the job, but then of course he would be wouldn’t he? The Mail claim Chris Coleman wants the gig, but that Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel do not. No surprises there.
The UEFA World Cup play-offs have been drawn. Christian Eriksen and Denmark will be out to crush Irish dreams, while there is also another tall playoff task for Sweden. Who do you expect to go through to Russia 2018?
