Wednesday Hoddle of Coffee: News and Links for October 25th 2017

Happy Hump Day, Spursland!

It’s mid-October, which means that it’s time for some EFL Cup action. One of my earliest memories of being a Tottenham fan is dissolving into a weeping mess as a Glenn Hoddle-managed Spurs side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Blackburn in the 2002 Football League Cup final (then known as the Worthington Cup), which gives you a little bit of insight into a) what an emotional child I was and b) just how bad Spurs have been historically.

Theme of the Day below and then some links for your delectation.

Links

MoPo has promised some squad rotation for our cup tie against West Ham tonight, which I assume is a reference to how he intends to turn our opponents over.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly planning some squad rotation of his own in advance of our weekend tie against Manchester United, but more of a gloomy, spiteful, extremely Jose Mourinho variety.

Elsewhere in football...

Gigi Buffon has announced that he will retire at the end of the season unless Juventus win the Champions League. Spurs, I love you, but I can’t believe you’re going to push a living legend like Buffon into retirement.

Man City squeaked past Wolves in their EFL Cup tie last night and Pep Guardiola said some amusing nonsense about it after the game.

The Premier League’s Big Six have failed in their bid to gain a bigger share of overseas broadcast revenue. Hooray for the little guy! Boo for our chances of signing a bigger name backup striker next year!

And finally...

Had enough of looking at pretty pictures of our new stadium under construction? Of course you haven’t. Check out another gallery of them that was uploaded to Spurs’ official website yesterday.
