Thursday Hoddle of Coffee: News and Links for October 27th 2017

Good morning Spursland!

Apologies again for another AWOL day again yesterday- contrary to what you may have assumed, I most certainly wasn’t too busy dealing with an absolutely enormous post-defeat-to-West-Ham hangover to throw the Hoddle up. A lifetime of supporting Spurs has given me way too high of a misery-drinking tolerance for that.

Toby Alderweireld has claimed that Spurs are ‘physically ready’ for the weekend tie against Manchester United despite the short recovery time afforded to the team. I’m not sure anybody can ever be truly physically ready to deal with Romelu Lukaku but the sentiment is appreciated nonetheless.

Paul Wilson writes for the Guardian that Spurs are now the most convincing challengers to Manchester City for the Premier League title. He apparently even still thinks this after Wednesday night’s game which is cool.

Elsewhere in football...

Deforestation might be one of the most pressing issues facing the environment but Liverpool have decided they’re happy to watch Woodburn for another five years after handing him a bumper new contract (this has been your Tenuous Joke of the Day).

Arsenal had their AGM last night and hoooo boy, it does not sound like it went well.

FA chairman Greg Clarke has announced a fundamental review of the association after admitting that it has has “lost the trust of the public”. A keen equestrian, Clarke is also expected to spend the week fixing the door on the stables at his home to ensure that he is prepared should the horse he lost many years ago return.
