Good morning, Spursland!

Ugh, is there anything worse than having to go back into work on Monday after a bitter Spurs defeat over the weekend? Call me Jose Mourinho, because I am going to be in an extreeeemely defensive mood all day today.

Here’s your Theme of the Day, and underneath that your daily links.

Dele Alli thinks it’s vital that Spurs show their bouncebackability in the aftermath of the side’s disappointing defeat to United. This Real Madrid team we’re playing this week is notoriously stacked with sympathetic characters though, so maybe they’ll just go easy on us?

Even Spurs’ U23 side had a difficult time of it over the weekend, and oof- coach Wayne Burnett did not hold back in his criticism of their performance on the club’s official website.

Elsewhere in football...

The Telegraph’s Jonathan Liew has always had a flair for making Spurs fans smile, and here he tries his absolute hardest to do so once again- bless him- in this rather bleak analysis of what has become of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in this new-look United side.

Phil Neville thinks that David Unsworth has shown enough in the two dismal defeats Everton have suffered under him to get the job at Goodison Park on a permanent basis- presuming his comments here were neither a joke nor an extremely elaborate attempt at reverse psychology.

Here’s one of the last pieces that will be written about England’s U17 World Cup heroes by the UK press that won’t be focused on analysing whether they’ve wasted their potential, so enjoy it whilst you can.

And finally...

Listen, we’ve all conceded a penalty by mis-executing a salmon dive and taking someone out with our head at some point in our lives- this Cowdenbeath player was just unlucky that on this occasion someone was around to film it.
