Not taking the piss: Tottenham Hotspur hands lifetime bans to urine throwers

Two Tottenham Hotspur fans who recorded themselves apparently relieving themselves into a cup and throwing urine towards West Ham supporters have been given lifetime bans from Tottenham Hotspur.

The video of the incident, which is pretty clear and unambiguous and which we are not going to link to here, made the rounds on social media in the wake of Spurs’ 3-2 loss to West Ham in the Carabao Cup. Spurs (*cough*) pissed away a 2-0 lead in the second half at Wembley Stadium. That, combined with the fact that Spurs and West Ham supporters really aren’t that fond of each other, as well as the presence of alcohol at said sporting event, led to the predictable stream of banter between the rival groups of fans.

The club was alerted to the video and previously indicated that was looking into the matter, asking other fans to help identify anyone involved in the incident.

Look, this kind of behavior isn’t acceptable from any fan base, but hopefully this will help ensure that as Spurs fans we don’t get too far on our moral high horse when other fan bases treat us badly. All fan groups have their jerks, and the club should be commended for acting swiftly to identify these two idiots and make sure that they can’t pollute the terraces with their specific brand of drunken a—hole antics ever again.

Let it also be known that in order to even reach the West Ham supporters with their cup of pee, these guys had to toss it over several rows of their own supporters. This goes well beyond banter and into the realm of disgusting abuse. Thankfully, their No. 1 option will now be their own bathroom while watching future matches on TV.
